YEREVAN. – The relevant state agency has submitted to the National Assembly (NA) a writing that Armen Sarkissian is a citizen of the Republic of Armenia and he has renounced UK citizenship ever since 2011.

NA Vice Chairman and ruling Republican Party of Armenia spokesperson Eduard Sharmazanov on Friday told the aforesaid to reporters at parliament, after casting his vote in the election on the fourth President of Armenia.  

He added that on the basis of these documents, presidential candidate Sarkissian has nothing to add.

“If Armen Sarkissian is elected [President]—I’m sure he will be elected, he has no legitimacy problem,” Sharmazanov noted, in particular.

But in his words, there are politicians who will always criticize, no matter what they are criticizing.

The sole presidential candidate is Ambassador to UK Armen Sarkissian, who has been nominated for this office by the ruling coalition.
