Nabucco project, providing for supply of energy resources from the Caspian region to Europe, should satisfy 5% of Europe’s gas demand, said Turkish Energy Minister.

In the course of meeting with his Finnish counterpart, Taner Yildiz noted that project is important from the viewpoint of Europe’s energy security. He considers the project will operate starting from 2017, Turkish press reported.

Nabucco gas pipeline estimated to cost about €7.9 billion provides for export of gas from Azerbaijan and Central Asia to the EU states. The first supplies are scheduled for 2015.
