On January 29, 2001, the then French President Jacques René Chirac and Prime Minister Lionel Jospin signed № 2001-70, officially recognizing the Armenian Genocide, Nouvelles d`Arménie reports.

At the moment the French Senate considers a bill making it a crime to deny that Armenians suffered genocide at the hands of Ottoman Turks.

Twenty-one countries and 43 states of the U.S. have so far recognized the Armenian Genocide.
