Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed confidence that the talks in Tehran with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and  Iranian leader Hassan Rouhani would be productive.

According to him, the decisions taken during the summit will make a significant contribution to securing a final settlement in Syria, RIA Novosti reported.

Iranian President, in his turn, noted that the civilian population in the Syrian Idlib should not suffer.

The fight against terrorism in Idlib is an integral part of the mission of establishing peace and stability in Syria, the leader noted adding that a serious fight against terrorism is inevitable to achieve sustainable peace.

Erdogan, in turn, noted, that summit in Tehran is the last possibility to solve the issue within the Astana process.

According to him, Turkey is extremely concerned that the US is supplying arms to groups on the eastern bank of the Euphrates. He noted that Turkey would retain its presence in Syria.
