YEREVAN. – The head of the Armenian Special Investigation Service, Sasun Khachatryan, considers the publication of a recording of a phone conversation between him and the director of Armenia’s National Security Service Arthur Vanetsyan to be an attempt to hinder the investigation into the March 1, 2008 events.

Collecting and publishing data without knowledge and permission of a person is a crime, Sasun Khachatryan told reporters on Wednesday.

“We are trying to return the looted billions to the people, to find out and to hold accountable the killers and their sponsors. What can they do? This is just a mere attempt to stop us, but we will not stop, and we will do our job,” Khachatryan noted.

According to Khachatryan, he informed the Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan about the arrest of the CSTO Secretary General Yuri Khachaturov.

“The Prime Minister has already said that there should be no political obstacle to the arrest of any person, and to the indictment. I informed the Prime Minister that the petition for arrest was submitted against all the people involved the case, as was the case with Yuri Khachaturov,” Khachatryan added.

As reported earlier, a recording of a phone conversation between the director of Armenia’s National Security Service Arthur Vanetsyan and head of the Special Investigation Service Sasun Khachatryan appeared on the web.
