Moments ago officers of Nor-Nork Police Department transferred a father and son to the court of general jurisdiction for the Avan and Nor Nork districts.  They were arrested on January 27, on suspicion of murdering 60-year-old Maro Aslanyan.

According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, Armine Aslanyan, 34, reported that on January 26 her mother left home and never returned.

On suspicion of murder, Patvakan Hovakimyan, 78, was brought in for questioning and confessed that he had killed Maro Aslanyan and burned her body in one of the nearby fields.

He also confessed that he told his son Sergei Ovakimyan, 43, about what happened.

On the day of the murder Patvakan ran over Maro Aslanyan on the Yerevan – Artashat highway.

He placed the woman into his car and tried to convince her to be silent. However, the woman tried to call the police on a cell phone. Patvakan grabbed her neck and strangled her. After checking that the woman was dead, the old man carried her body to a nearby village Taperakan, in the Ararat area and burned it.

 

As Armenian News - NEWS.am was informed, Patvakan Ovakimyan has been charged with murder and his son has been charged with covering up a crime.
