There is no likelihood of war resumption in Nagorno-Karabakh, Iranian Ambassador to Armenia Seyed Ali Saqqaiyan told journalists on Wednesday. According to him, there are no prerequisites for war resumption. Besides, influential regional powers, particularly Russia, Iran, Turkey and OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing countries will not allow it.

“I think the region will not tolerate resumption of hostilities between Armenia and Azerbaijan or Nagorno-Karabakh and Azerbaijan,” he stressed.

The Ambassador recalled Iranian President’s statement in Baku and Istanbul that all conflicts, including Karabakh issue, should be solved through negotiations and Iran will do its utmost to assist the conflict resolution.

Speaking of principles of territorial integrity and nations’ right to self-determination, the Ambassador said: “Certainly, international experts say these two principles are equal. However, I believe people’s rights are of higher importance. Human rights should not be ignored and a nation should decide its fate.
