The body of the late Charles Aznavour on Friday was brought out of the courtyard of Les Invalides in Paris under a live piano performance, and his famous song “Emmenez-moi” (Take me).

People bid adieu to the legendary French Armenian singer in the spirit that he described himself: “100 percent French and 100 percent Armenian.” His coffin was covered with the national flag of France, and an Armenian tricolor wreath was being carried behind it.

Aznavour’s body was brought to the Les Invalides courtyard under the tune of the Armenian duduk.

More than 2,000 people had assembled to say goodbye to the legend.

The farewell ceremony for Charles Aznavour also brought together his family members as well as French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and President Armen Sarkissian and their wives, Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II, Ex-Presidents of France François Hollande and Nicolas Sarkozy and his wife, and Armenia’s Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan.

Charles Aznavour passed away Monday aged 94, in his house in southern France, and of natural causes.
