YEREVAN. – Nagorno-Karabakh has never been a part of independent Azerbaijan, said political scientist, head of the Armenian second president Robert Kocharyan’s office, Viktor Soghomonyan.

The political scientist recalled that Nagorno-Karabakh voted for independence in full compliance with the norms of international law.

According to him, the active policy of international recognition of the Armenian Genocide was of great importance, since it demonstrated the impossibility of Artsakh being a part of Azerbaijan.

“Nagorno-Karabakh must be independent and decide itself whether to remain independent or to reunite with Armenia. Two generations of people have grown up in the independent Karabakh, and they even cannot imagine being in the composition of another state, especially Azerbaijan,” he said.
