YEREVAN. – Armenia MP and Yerkrapah (Defender of the Land) Volunteer Union Board ex-Chairman, General Manvel Grigoryan’s donations of lands to the government are over.

Grigoryan’s attorney, Levon Baghdasaryan, stated about the aforementioned at a press conference on Tuesday.

“We have petitioned to the government, in the manner prescribed by law, and donated it to the government,” Baghdasaryan said. “Subsequently, the authorized state bodies and the government shall make a relevant decision on accepting the donation. The donation by Manvel Grigoryan is over.”

Asked whether they had found out how Grigoryan had acquired those lands, his legal defender responded: “In connection with the specific area, there is absolutely no incident that it was acquired on unlawful grounds.”

Manvel Grigoryan had petitioned to the government, and expressed a wish to donate to the state the 329-hectare area of a beaver-breeding farm in Aknalich village in Armavir Province. As per his attorney, an expert had assessed the total market value of this land to be close to $10 million.

Manvel Grigoryan was arrested on June 19. He is charged with unlawfully keeping weapons and ammunition, and committing large-scale embezzlement. In particular, it is about the embezzlement of the aid that was sent during the days of the four-day war in Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh), in April 2016.
