YEREVAN. – An Armenia man who was serving a life sentence was released on Tuesday on compassionate grounds.
The court took note of a serious illness of Vahagn Marukyan who was arrested in 1993 when he was 19. The man was accused of an intentional killing of a Vanadzor police chief. In 1994 Maukyan was sentenced to death, but the verdict was later changed to a life imprisonment.
