The Armenian authorities must act so as to prevent people from going into the streets this spring, Giro Manoyan, Head of the Hay Dat office, Armenian Revolutionary Federation-Dashnaktsutyun (ARF-D) told Armenian News-NEWS.am as he commented on the Armenian MP Artak Zakaryan`s statement that the revolutionary developments in the Arab world will not reach Armenia. According to Manoyan, people in Armenia have the same demands as the people in Libya, Bahrain and Yemen - solution to social problems, the Opposition`s involvement in state governance and so on.

In Armenia those discontented with the authorities just leave the country. "We should not forget that unrest took place under all the three presidents in the country, and it may recur. On the other hand, we have not yet had president that has ruled for 30 years. But there is one with a shorter-term the people are discontented with," Manoyan said.

The authorities must not find comfort in the hope that people will prefer leaving the country to rebelling. "The authorities should think of not causing people to run out of patience rather than of preventing unrest," Manoyan said.
