YEREVAN. – We are surrounded by authoritarian Turkey, authoritarian-like Iran, authoritarian Azerbaijan.

Hayk Konjoryan, an MP from the majority “My Step” Faction, on Wednesday stated the aforesaid in the National Assembly of Armenia.

“And it’s solely our immediate neighbor Georgia that goes on a democratic ‘road,’” he added. “And if Armenia—surrounded by these about 160mn [population] authoritarian countries—makes progressive development of democracy its trump card, also, it is able to be perceived by the international community as a leading democratic country of the region, [and] which will also definitely have its manifestations in diplomacy.”
