The participants in a march organized by the Armenian National Congress (ANC) paid homage to the memory of victims of the tragic events in Yerevan on March 1, 2008.
The Armenian News-NEWS.am correspondent reports that the participants paid flowers at the monument to Alexander Myasnikyan, where the tragic events took place. As regards media reports on ANC supporters detained by the police, ANC Coordinator Levon Zurabyan said he had no information.
The Armenian National Congress (ANC) Levon Ter-Petrosyan held a rally in Yerevan today, March 1.
The Armenian Opposition did not agree with the official results of the presidential election on Feb. 19, 2008. The Opposition leader Levon Ter-Petrosyan organized a round-the-clock rally in Liberty Square in Yerevan.
On March 1, 2008, the authorities ordered law-enforcement agencies to disperse the opposition rally in front of the monument to Myasnikyan. The clashes claimed ten lives. The then President Robert Kocharyan declared a 20-day state of emergency in Yerevan.
The ANC plans to hold another rally on March 17.
