YEREVAN. – A march in commemoration of ten victims of the March 1 events has kicked off from Liberty Square in downtown Yerevan (PHOTOS).
The march is led by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan who is joined by deputies from My Step party, Cabinet members and political figures. Leader of Republic party Aram Sargsyan is also present.
The participants will march to the Myasnikyan Monument to pay tribute to the victims.
On March 1 and 2, 2008 ten people were killed in clashes between the demonstrators and police in downtown Yerevan. The demonstrators were protesting against the results of the presidential election on February 19, 2008. Eight demonstrators as well as two servicemen of the internal troops were killed in the clashes. But no one had been brought to account for these deaths, to this day
