The Government of the Republic of Armenia does not discriminate against any economic operator. This is what Armenia’s Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan told journalists in response to the question on Lydian Armenia on 27 March.

“I believe the government will have the answers to some questions in May because, as you know, a hydrogeological study is being conducted in Amulsar, and this study will help give us some answers and respond to the doubts of certain experts,” he stated.

Avinyan assured that all the risks had been assessed. According to him, if the results of the study favor Lydian Armenia, the company won’t need to appeal to court anymore.

When told that the company appealing to an arbitration court was a threat to the government, Avinyan said the government isn’t afraid of any threat and that it is important for the government to understand the situation at hand.

When asked if the government has estimated the damages that might be caused to the Republic of Armenia, if the company appeals and wins the case, the Deputy PM said the following: “We are well aware of all the risks and have nothing to fear.”
