It's too early for the Sasna Tsrer (Daredevils of Sassoun) Party to launch a petition for reunification of Artsakh with Armenia. This is what Deputy of the National Assembly of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) Vardges Baghryan told NEWS.am.

“It’s clear that the people of Artsakh want to be reunified with Armenia, and it’s known that the people of Artsakh launched the Karabakh movement with a slogan for reunification. However, I strongly believe that it’s still too early to raise such an issue because we declared Artsakh’s independence in 1991 and are building an independent country,” he said.

The MP believes the people of Artsakh will be able to decide what they want after Artsakh’s independence is internationally recognized.

“If we raise this issue, this will mean that we are no longer negotiating, and this is very risky. We know what kind of a region we’re living in and know the serious dangers. So, there is no need to add salt to the wound,” the MP stressed.

The MP doesn’t think there will be a petition. “We know that the Sasna Tsrer Party has opened an office and visits the regions, but the members are not greeted by large crowds. Based on this, we can conclude that most citizens of Artsakh don’t share their approach,” Baghryan concluded.
