Politician Suren Sargsyan has commented on Premier Nikol Pashinyan’s statement that the United States has “given practically no response” to the events that took place in Armenia in the spring of 2018.

In relation to this, Sargsyan wrote the following on his Facebook page:

“Nikol is right, Trump — wrong?

1. Yes, if change of power took place in Armenia during the term of office of Bush (43rd President) or Obama, Armenia would have had a qualitatively different Armenia-US agenda, including statements and support.

2. Yes, if Hillary was President, Armenia would have had a qualitatively different agenda.

3. Understand that Trump is a pragmatic president. He has no duty to give anything to anyone and doesn’t owe Armenia.

4. At the same time, Trump considers it his duty to exclusively support his allies, be it Israel, Georgia or another country, and this is logical.

5. Understand once and for all that Armenia is not an ally for the Americans and is not of strategic significance for the US.

6. There are problems with Armenia-US relations that are solvable and not too solvable.

7. Armenia has problems with the friendly countries of the US (Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Israel), and they have problems with Armenia’s friendly countries (Russian Federation, Iran), not to mention the fact that they have problems with some Armenian officials.

So, yes, Nikol is right — the Americans aren’t helping us.

Yes, Trump is right. Armenia is not an ally to the US, and he doesn’t owe us anything. He doesn’t have an agenda for change of power in the world and doesn’t money to spend either.

So, both of you, keep calm and sit down.”
