The Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia urges to report newly emerged circumstances related to the events of 27 October 1999 to the Prosecutor General’s Office, if there are any. This is what Armenia’s Prosecutor General Artur Davtyan declared during a briefing with journalists in parliament on 29 March, responding to the question on whether he believes the case of 27 October 1999 needs to be reopened or not.

“I have said several times that there has to be a newly emerged circumstances under the terminated proceedings in order for us to institute new proceedings. We can’t institute proceedings to find out if there are newly emerged circumstances. If anyone knows about a newly emerged circumstances, we simply urge, ask and recommend them to report the particular circumstance, even if they find that it can’t be presented to the public at large,” he declared.

According to Davtyan, the Prosecutor General’s Office can institute proceedings and verify the remaining details only if there is a newly emerged circumstance.
