I talked to the maestro right after the news about the dismissal of Konstantin Orbelyan from the position of director of the Armenian National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet named after Alexander Spendiaryan was released. This is what Human Rights Defender of Armenia Arman Tatoyan wrote on his Facebook page.

“Taking into consideration the fact that this issue is related to guaranteeing of the maestro’s rights, I have taken the decision to institute proceedings for consideration. Clarifications regarding the grounds and reasons for dismissing Konstantin Orbelyan will be requested from the acting minister of culture in an official letter to be sent on Monday.

At this moment, I have taken note of the public clarifications of the Ministry of Culture and the acting minister,” wrote Tatoyan.
