Turkish President Recep Erdogan announced his victory in the Turkish 2019 local elections.

Erdogan noted that the support of the people allowed the Justice and Development Party of Turkey headed by him to win in the 15th in a row of elections.

About 56 percent of all municipal bodies in Turkey will be led by representatives of the Justice and Development Party.

Erdogan noted that the authorities are preparing a new program of major reforms in the country. The priority of the Turkish authorities up to 2023 is the further development of the economy, increasing exports and employment growth, the Turkish leader said.

Erdogan’s AKP took 44 percent of the votes in the elections after 99 percent of over 194,000 ballot boxes were counted. The opposition CHP party had 30 percent, AP reported. 

Turkey held 2019 local elections on Sunday. They are held every five years - during the voting, mayors of cities, heads of municipalities and districts are also elected.
