Our political party positively assesses Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s meeting with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. This is what head of the Bright Armenia Party’s parliamentary faction Edmon Marukyan declared during an April 1 briefing at the National Assembly.
However, according to him, there are still questions that remain unanswered.
“I am referring to the Armenian party’s agenda, that is, the 3 principles and 6 elements. Overall, the meeting was positive, and we positively assess the fact that the negotiations continue,” Marukyan clarified.
He also didn’t rule out the development of new elements and principles and believes the Armenian party is moving in this direction. “However, we must not forget that these principles need to be based on the Helsinki Final Act, meaning the only issue is interpretation of the principles,” he said.
According to Marukyan, the Armenian authorities have chosen the right strategy by demanding that the international community interpret the elements and principles for settlement of the conflict and claiming that Karabakh participate in the negotiations.
The MP is certain that there is a new process and that this is inevitable since Armenia has many new approaches that will have an impact on the negotiations.
