If a war breaks out during the term of office of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, it’s obvious that it will be necessary to leave political discrepancies aside and come together to fight against the external threat. This is what Vice-Chairman of the Republican Party of Armenia Armen Ashotyan told journalists at Yerablur Military Pantheon.

According to him, no matter how much certain political figures try to manipulate with the events that took place in April 2016, the Armenian people won the war. “Azerbaijan has been trying to resolve the conflict through a military solution for years, and it failed again. After losing in diplomacy between 2011 and 2016, the Azerbaijani authorities tried to use force. Afterwards, Azerbaijani diplomats also suffered another defeat in Vienna, Saint Petersburg and Geneva,” he added. Touching upon President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev’s statement that the war with Armenia is not over and that this is merely the first phase, the Vice-Chairman of the Republican Party of Armenia stated that the President of Azerbaijan has always stood out with his dual approaches. “The internal agenda is always different from the external one that Baku is trying to impose on the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs and the international community. Sometimes those agendas are combined, and this is very dangerous. This combination led to military aggression three years ago. We have to take this into consideration and be ready for war,” he concluded.
