On March 6, President of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic Bako Sahakyan arrived on a working visit to Paris.

President Sahakyan visited St. John the Baptist cathedral and attended the liturgy. Afterwards he met with Primate of the French Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church Archbishop Norvan Zakaryan.

“Issues related to the Motherland-Diaspora relations as well as domestic and foreign policy of Artsakh were discussed during the meeting. Sahakyan gave a high appraisal of  the role of the Armenian Apostolic Church in maintaining national identity in the Diaspora and strengthening ties with the Motherland,” the statement says.

After the meeting the President laid wreath at the monument to Komitas located in the center of Paris.

In the course of his visit Bako Sahakyan also held a meeting with members of the “Support to Karabagh” Union board and discussed issues related to the cooperation with the organization.

In his trip President Sahakyan was accompanied by primate of the Artsakh Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church Archbishop Pargev Martirosyan, Armenian Ambassador to France  Vigen Chitechyan, NKR Minister of Culture and Youth Affairs Narine Aghabalyan and other officials.
