The Bright Armenia faction of the National Assembly of Armenia has placed into circulation the draft laws on making an amendment to the Law of the Republic of Armenia “On procurement” and on making amendments to the Law of the Republic of Armenia “On local self-governance in the city of Yerevan”. The draft laws were developed in partnership with the Committee to Protect Freedom of Expression NGO.

In particular, the political party proposes to:

- allow media representatives to attend the sessions of the Council of Elders of Yerevan in the special place allocated for them in the sessions hall, as in the past;

- lift the restriction on freedom of information on the procurement and expenditures being made for protocol expenses, stay, food and transportation services, including technical maintenance and renovation of vehicles of the President of the Republic of Armenia, the Prime Minister and the Speaker of the National Assembly.

Thus, both draft laws are targeted at the protection of the rights of mass media outlets.
