Azerbaijan is inclined to see a peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, but it will continue to increase its military potential, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev declared, reports Interfax-Azerbaijan.
“We are trying to settle the conflict through a political, diplomatic and peaceful path, but alongside that, we are increasing our military potential. From now on, we will take all the necessary steps in this direction,” Aliyev declared.
“Azerbaijan is carrying out all the necessary activites in this direction. It’s obvious that military and economic potential is making our country strong. From now on, we will continue to lead our consistent policy in this direction,” he added.
Aliyev stated that the military clashes with Armenia in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone in 2016 showed that “Azerbaijan can restore its territorial integrity through the military”.
“Our main goal is to settle the conflict,” Azerbaijan’s president said.
