YEREVAN. – The Spayka company workers, who are protesting against the court decision on remanding company director Davit Ghazaryan in custody, have ended their demonstration.

The company’s development director, Karen Baghdasaryan, called on fellow Spayka employees who have assembled outside the Government of Armenia building to enable the company management to consult with attorneys, in order to find out on why a court decision was made to remand Ghazaryan in custody.

Also, Baghdasaryan urged the picketers to applaud Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

“Mr. Prime Minister,” he stated addressing Pashinyan. “You are the leader of our country. We believe in you. We believe that whatever decisions you are making, you are making [them] for this country. We welcome you, and ask [you] to find the answer to those ‘whys.’”

Karen Baghdasaryan added that they will inform about their future courses of action.

As reported earlier, the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction on Monday morning ruled that Spayka company director Davit Ghazaryan be remanded in custody for two months.

On April 4, charges were filed against Ghazaryan, and within the framework of the criminal case into non-payment of large amount of taxes.

As per the respective State Revenue Committee statement, Spayka company has not paid 7,036,666,312 drams (approx. US$14,468,090) in customs duties and taxes to the state budget.
