We’re very close to creating the opportunity for relatives to visit the captives. This is what Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan told journalists on 8 April, touching upon the agreement on humanitarian actions reached in Vienna.

“We’re very close to creating that opportunity, but we don’t know if Armenian and Azerbaijani families will want to take advantage of that opportunity or not. I don’t rule out the fact that there might be people who won’t want to for certain reasons because it isn’t an easy decision to make,” he said.

Pashinyan voiced hope that the parties will be able to guarantee the safety of farming for each party.

“We are ready to guarantee that our troops won’t shoot at any civilian, much less farmers. If Azerbaijan reaffirms its willingness, we can do this. There are also other possible humanitarian actions, but the beneficiaries need to have the desire to take advantage of that opportunity,” he said.
