Armenia might open its own bus factory. This is what President of the Drivers’ Protection League Tigran Hovhannisyan declared during an April 12 press conference.

According to him, the League’s group of experts is currently working on the final version of the League’s business plan.

“In 15 days, we will address Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to have a meeting and discuss the launch of construction of the factory. Investments, 80% of which will be from Armenia, will help create 1,000 new jobs,” he stated.

Hovhannisyan stated that the buses will be manufactured for the domestic market in the initial stage and will cost about two times cheaper than in case of imports.

Tigran Hovhannisyan assured that the first buses will be released by 2020, if everything goes according to plan.

The buses will probably be manufactured in Armenia’s Tavush Province.
