Gagik Petrosyan, a member of the Motherland parliamentary faction of the Free Motherland Party (AHK) of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), and Vahram Poghosyan, the AHK spokesperson, on Sunday visited Germany at the invitation of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, to conduct an observation mission during the parliamentary election in Brandenburg state of Germany.

Members of the Artsakh delegation started their respective work by visiting several constituencies to observe the election process there.

Subsequently, Petrosyan and Poghosyan were received—at the Landtag (parliament) of Brandenburg—by Andreas Kalb, head of the AfD faction in this legislature. Kalb noted that such mutual visits will greatly contribute to the strengthening of mutual ties. The Artsakh delegation members, in turn, stressed that electoral processes require continued development, and, in this sense, they can draw good examples from the respective German track-record.

Within the framework of their working visit to Germany, members of the AHK delegation of Artsakh also had a private meeting with Alexander Gauland, Co-Founder of the AfD and Co-Chairman of the AfD faction in the German Bundestag—in Potsdam, the capital city of Brandenburg. Gauland assured that, regardless of the political status of Artsakh, he sees great potential for cooperation between the two political forces.

Thanking for the warm reception, Gagik Petrosyan and Vahram Poghosyan followed the election results, together with the AfD members.
