Artur Baghdasaryan, Secretary of the Armenian National Security Council and Chairman of the Rule of Law Party, does not rule out his party`s participation in the next parliamentary elections in Armenia on a mixed ticket with the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) and Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP).

"The issue must be settled during political discussions, with each party`s strategy considered," Baghdasaryan said in an interview with Azatutyun radio. The coalition forces have not yet held such discussions, he said.

"The structures of the Rule of Law party are now working to ensure our party`s independent participation in the elections. If any discussions take place, our party will take part in them along with other parties," Baghdasaryan said.

Baghdasaryan does not deny the fact that the party accepting President Serzh Sargsyan`s proposal to join the political coalition following the 2008 elections shook public confidence in it. However, "many values have been reappraised" during the following three years.

Many people are joining the Rule of Law party now. Last year alone, over 10,000 Armenian citizens joined the party. "This suggests that people made a more realistic appraisal of our step as the right one," Baghdasaryan said.
