A person who thinks and analyzes understood the text of my resignation very well. This is what former Director of the National Security Service of Armenia Artur Vanetsyan said in an interview with 168.am.
Responding to the comments that the word “Stop” in the text of the resignation referred to corruption, he said the following: “It is simply ridiculous to blame me for making a call to “stop” the fight against corruption. Under my leadership, the National Security Service was the frontrunner in the fight against corruption. The country’s political leadership has talked about this many times, and everyone has seen the tremendous amount of work that the National Security Service has done. I couldn’t have said “stop” fighting against something that is an evil for our country and is destroying the foundations of the country. There is no alternative to the fight against corruption. We have to fight very strictly and endlessly, and the NSS, under my leadership, and I have proved that during the one-and-a-half years that I was the Director of the NSS.”
When asked what it is that Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan has to stop doing, Vanetsyan said the following: “I won’t answer that question, but I promise to talk about everything and express my views on the atmosphere in the country in detail soon.”
Vanetsyan also touched upon the inspections conducted at the office of his father’s company, and when asked if he expected this, he said he couldn’t say and added that there were no violations detected.
When asked if the Prime Minister’s statements on cash register coupons at gas stations didn’t cast any doubts and if he had any other doubts, the former Director of the NSS said he had had many occasions to doubt, but wouldn’t like to talk about them.
