A Russian court has arrested Armenia's ex-MP Levon Sargsyan - who is known among the Armenian public as “Lyovik of the flour mill” - for 40 days.

Gor Abrahamyan, Advisor to the Prosecutor General of Armenia, noted on his Facebook page that the Prosecutor General's Office has sent a petition to the Prosecutor General's Office of Russia, requesting the extradition of Levon Sargsyan, who is wanted and was found in Russia.

Abrahamyan added that, as a result of the cooperation between the Armenian and Russian Prosecutors' Offices, the Russian court has granted the Russian Prosecutor's Office's motion to hold Sargsyan in custody for 40 days to discuss the issue of his extradition to Armenia.

As reported earlier, Armenia’s ex-MP, Yerevan resident Levon Sargsyan, 51, was found and detained on November 21, in Zelenograd city of the Moscow region of Russia.

He has been wanted under several articles of the Armenian Criminal Code since October 1, 2018.

He was a former deputy of the National Assembly of Armenia from 1999 to 2007.
