Kazakhstan has a completely impartial position on the Karabakh issue. We believe that only Armenians and Azerbaijanis should solve this problem among themselves, said Kazakg ambassador to Armenia Timur Urazayev.

He explained that the same position was voiced when Pashinyan at a meeting with Tokayev raised the question of the new approaches of the Armenian side to the Karabakh settlement, the participation of a third party in the negotiations.

The ambassador, however, noted that Kazakhstan cannot do anything since there is a charter and the principle of solidarity.

“At the same time, the Kazakh side sends the text of the resolution to the Armenian side each time in order to adopt a variant closer to Armenia at other events. All this is done in order to maintain relations with two partners - Azerbaijan and Armenia,” he said.

He added that the first president of Kazakhstan, back in 1994–95, did everything possible to ensure that, if the Karabakh issue is not completely resolved, then at least to promote mutual understanding between the parties.

“The logic of Kazakhstan’s foreign policy positioning is to have a good relationship with everyone without territorial, economic and political claims. However, it’s not our fault that someone has a problem with someone. Why is Armenia, for example, a member of the Union of Francophonie countries, and Kazakhstan can’t join the organization of the Turkic-speaking community?” He wonders.
