make preferableYEREVAN. – Sasun Khachatryan, Head of the Special Investigation Service (SIS) of Armenia, proposes to wait 48 hours, after which to discuss whether to declare former Prosecutor General Gevorg Kostanyan wanted.
Earlier it was reported that the investigative body had decided to press charges against Kostanyan, but given that he is out of Armenia, he was given 48 hours to come. In response, Kostanyan told the media that he would definitely return, but would do so later.
Speaking to reporters, and asked what will happen if Kostanyan fails to come during that period, Khachatryan assured that they will act by law.
Asked why the investigative body decided at this time to launch an indictment against Kostanyan, Khachatryan noted that an indictment was filed when there is evidence and facts.
Khachatryan agreed that many suspects and accused had escaped justice. "Of course, that's a problem," he said.
The SIS chief confirmed that the charges against Gevorg Kostanyan were linked to the case of former Police Chief Alik Sargsyan.
