Judge Anna Danibekyan returned from the consultation room and announced the decision on the motion for prosecutor Karen Bisharyan’s recusal.
Today second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan’s attorney Hovhannes Khudoyan had verbally motioned with the court for the recusal of prosecutor Bisharyan. According to Khudoyan, Bisharyan hadn’t seen grounds for interviewing Kocharyan even as a witness during the discussions on the events of March 1, 2008 in parliament on February 23, 2018. “Later, the prosecutor suddenly saw grounds for Kocharyan’s arrest, even though the circumstances that served as ground for the charge were known in the past, and they were Order 0038 and declaring martial law. Even the issue of engaging the armed forces was raised. This goes to show the prosecutor’s subjectivity after the change of the political situation in the country,” the attorney said.
After returning from the consultation room, the judge denied the motion and read the decision in a half-empty courtroom.
The next trial is set to take place on December 3 at 1 p.m.
