Air traffic between Russia and Georgia is possible will be restored in the first half of 2020, Izvestia reported referring to an informed government source.

According to him, the political crisis in the republic amid mass rallies in the capital, does not allow resuming flights (and this possibility was considered) before the New Year. As the special representative of the Georgian Prime Minister for relations with Russia Zurab Abashidze told Izvestia, Tbilisi will definitely welcome the return of flights between the countries if such a decision is made.

The ban on air communication with Georgia introduced on July 8 could be lifted before the end of the year, but this was prevented by the political crisis in the republic, which turned into massive protests. An informed government source explained to Izvestia: despite the decrease in the intensity of Russophobia in the South-Caucasian state, rallies in Tbilisi, which have been ongoing since November 14, do not allow us to talk about a stable and safe situation in the country.
