YEREVAN. – The Government did not approve at today's session the legislative initiative of National Assembly (NA) opposition Prosperous Armenia faction member, NA Vice President Vahe Enfiajyan, whereby it is proposed to amend the NA Rules of Procedure in order to include the NA vice presidents among those officials who have the power to convene parliamentary hearings.
The bill also proposes that the NA factions be allowed to invite to hold not one but two hearings during each regular NA session.
According to the justification attached to the draft, the adoption of the draft is conditioned by the need to ensure balance in the NA. And the need to convene two hearings is conditioned by numerous issues of public interest and importance revealed during the people’s receptions held by the NA factions.
The government, however, found that this bill needs further justification and refinement.
