When former Director of the National Security Service of Armenia Artur Vanetsyan started making contradicting statements following his resignation, I had simply warned that, as a rule, the heads of such institutions resign unnoticeably. This is what chairman of the parliamentary committee investigating the circumstances of the Four-Day Artsakh War of April 2016 Andranik Kocharyan told journalists today.

“Such people only deal with confidential documents during their term of office. Anyone holding such a position doesn’t have the right to mystify people. Even by not giving answers to questions, Artur Vanetsyan is causing harm to Armenia’s national security,” Andranik Kocharyan said, adding that Vanetsyan should have known the importance of the position he was holding.

“I don’t remember any former director of the National Security Service who has resigned and become so politically active. He had to realize that he serves as a defender of the security system even after his resignation. If he hasn’t realized this, there can be dire consequences.”
