YEREVAN. – The mayor of Yerevan has 57 Council of Elders’ members who can praise the work of the mayor forever, and there is opposition, and its opinion should be taken into account. Tehmina Vardanyan, a member of the opposition Luys faction of the Yerevan Council of Elders, said this during a press conference today.

"If the opposition voices any problem, it should not be mocked, ridiculed and laughed at," she added.

Asked whether her remarks at the recent Yerevan Council of Elders' meeting were considered entering the personal domain, Vardanyan said: “Yes, sometimes my criticisms are sharp, but it is natural. We do not consider ourselves to be on the wrong track; opposition criticism should be sharp. "

Asked whether Luys will lose if Davit Khajakyan resigns from the faction, she replied: "Yes, our very dear colleague will be lost, and his leaving can be painful for us."

And another member of the Luys faction, Ani Khachatryan, said: “Of course, our positions will not weaken; we will continue our work as it has been. Nothing has changed in our political agenda.”

As reported earlier, Edmon Marukyan, the leader of the opposition Bright Armenia party and the head of its parliamentary faction, wrote on his Facebook page that the Bright Armenia party was discussing the matter of recalling its only member in the Yerevan Council of Elders, Davit Khajakyan, and the expediency of the continuation of his activities in the council. Later, Marukyan noted that the reason is that they have no influence on the Luys faction, which has three members, of which only Khajakyan is from the Bright Armenia party, whereas the other two members—Ani Khachatryan and Tehmina Vardanyan—are from the Republic party.
