Technocrat Hassan Diab, who served as Minister of Education of Lebanon in 2011-2014, can receive the support of most parliamentary factions and become the new head of the republic’s government, Reuters reported.

On Thursday, Baabd’s Palace will host consultations of Lebanese President Michel Aoun with parliamentary factions. The new PM of the republic will be named based on their results.

The head of the coalition cabinet, Saad Hariri, resigned amid the wave of mass protests that swept the country on October 29. 

The Al-Mustaqbal movement will nominate its own PM candidate at a meeting on Thursday.
