There is some progress being made in the talks over the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, but based on the government’s incoherent statements, this sparks questions and doesn’t respond to the concerns of the Armenian public. This is what secretary of the Prosperous Armenia faction of the National Assembly Arman Abovyan wrote on his Facebook page.

“I have no intention to assess the talks since I’m not participating in the process, but I consider it my duty to state a dangerous tendency that, in essence, may become dominant in this stage of the talks. This particularly concerns the approach based on which the Armenian side won’t oppose the sudden inclusion of representatives of the so-called ‘Azerbaijani community of Artsakh’ in the delegation of Azerbaijanis during the talks,” Abovyan wrote and emphasized that the Armenian side has no right to allow the granting of an official status to that ‘Azerbaijani community’ in any case.

“I repeat that this should not be allowed in any case because by doing that we Armenians will be the ones giving an impulse to the process of delegitimization of the government of the Republic of Artsakh. This will entail a simple and understandable situation where the nomadic ‘Azerbaijani community of Karabakh” will de facto have the same status of the authorities of Artsakh,” the faction’s secretary wrote.
