YEREVAN. – At today's session, the government appointed political scientist Styopa Safaryan as Chairman of the Public Council of Armenia
"Yes, I have nominated Mr. Safaryan’s candidacy, and I am happy for that," Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said in his speech. "Mr. Safaryan has been engaged in public, political activity in Armenia for many years, and I believe that in this new status, his activity will be more effective for the benefit of Armenia, Artsakh and the Armenian people."
"You will be the second Chairman of the Public Council," Pashinyan added addressing Safaryan. “This is, in fact, the last chance for the Public Council to prove that it can truly be effective as a government advisory body. To be honest, I myself believe it. (...). Let me say that the Public Council can also be a platform for meeting with non-parliamentary forces."
