Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh Republic) Artak Beglaryan has had several meetings with civil society representatives and discussed issues related to the development of civil society and cooperation with the latter, reports the Office of the Human Rights Defender of Artsakh.

The Ombudsman underscored the unique role of civil society in protecting and guaranteeing human rights and urged the attendees to be active in identifying and solving the issues that they notice.

“I am interested in the empowerment of civil society and am willing to do my best to help the latter. Since I know very well that non-governmental organizations of Artsakh currently face problems with lack of capacity and resources, I am taking all possible measures to solve the issues gradually. In particular, there are some positive trends in terms of increasing government support, as well as support from the Diaspora and foreign countries, and I hope we are able to empower civil society by being enterprising and consistent,” Beglaryan stated.

The participants of the meetings have exchanged views and reached agreements to strengthen cooperation.
