Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan today received the delegation led by Chair of the Committee on International Affairs of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Konstantin Kosachev, reports the news service of the National Assembly.

Greeting the guests, Ararat Mirzoyan emphasized once again that the Russian and Armenians nations are linked by their centuries-old friendship and fraternity. He stated that the major direction of the bilateral relations is interparliamentary cooperation and set aside three platforms, including cooperation of parliamentary committees, the joint sessions of the standing committees and effective cooperation on international parliamentary platforms.

Konstantin Kosachev expressed gratitude for the reception and transmitted the greetings of President of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko. Konstantin Kosachev added the regular contacts at the level of heads of parliaments to the three directions for cooperation, stated the high level of cooperation with his Armenian counterparts and emphasized that the activities have continued non-stop after shift of power and change of composition of the parliament in Armenia. He stated that the Russian Federation doesn’t have as many points of intersection with other countries as it does with Armenia and assured that Russia is ready to support the candidates of the National Assembly of Armenia within international organizations.
