Ankara condemns the federal budget approved by the US Congress, which contains items directed against Turkey and destroying Turkish-American relations, Turkish Foreign Ministry spokesman Hami Aksoy said in a statement.

The US Senate completed on the eve of the adoption of the federal budget for fiscal year 2020, documents are sent for signature to President Donald Trump,

"This is the latest outcome of the agenda pursued by Members of Congress who are bent on damaging our bilateral relations by any means. Turkey condemns the exploitation of even an ordinary budgeting process for the sake of the short term political ambitions of U.S. politicians," Hurriyet Daily reported referring to Aksoy.

"Those circles who try to unfairly block the delivery of F-35 aircraft to Turkey, while attempting to hamper efforts for a solution on the Island of Cyprus and cooperation opportunities in the Eastern Mediterranean, will realize in due time that their initiatives are actually harming the U.S.’s own interests and not serving regional peace and stability," Aksoy added.

The US Senate and House voted on Tuesday for a $ 738 billion defense budget that seeks to protect European energy security by imposing sanctions on the Nord Stream 2 and Turkish Stream Russian energy pipelines. The defense budget also implies a ban on the transfer of the latest American F-35 aircraft to Turkey in response to Ankara’s purchase of the S-400 and the lifting of the arms embargo on Cyprus.
