Lebanon’s newly appointed Prime Minister Hassan Diab has declared that he will form a new cabinet in six weeks to bring the country out of the deep economic and political crisis. This is what Diab told Deutsche Welle.

“Over the past decade, it took the former government a year to form a cabinet. I strive to form a cabinet in four or six weeks,” he said.

Ex-Prime Minister Saad Hariri resigned amid massive demonstrations in late October, and Michel Aun appointed Diab Prime Minister after consultations with the country’s political parties. The ex-education minister received the support of 69 of the country’s 128 parliamentarians, as well as the support of Lebanon’s Armenian MPs.
