I have known Styopa Safaryan for a long time. He has in-depth knowledge. Of course, I don’t welcome his idea of differentiating between members of society and his attitude towards certain media outlets. This is what deputy of the Bright Armenia faction of the National Assembly of Armenia Taron Simonyan told journalists today.

“I hope he sets all this aside and serves the public and the State with his knowledge. If we see that he is deviating from this course, we will definitely speak out about it and with the help of the media,” he said.

According to Simonyan, in the past, there were certain topics that the Public Council had nothing to do with, but touched upon those topics. “In the past, the Public Council wasn’t meeting the expectations of the public. If the Public Council continues to fail to perform its functions, this will mean that the Public Council is not beneficial,” Taron Simonyan said.

He emphasized that the Public Council needs to serve as a platform for consensus and a place where everyone should listen to the statements by the former and current authorities and the public.

When asked if former president of the Public Council Vazgen Manukyan had deviated from the powers of president, the deputy said there was a certain limit that Vazgen Manukyan shouldn’t have crossed.
