Mexico accused Bolivia of intimidating its diplomats. The Mexican MFA said it was deeply concerned about the excessive monitoring of the residence of the Mexican Ambassador and the Mexican Embassy in Bolivia by about 150 Bolivian intelligence and security officials, Reuters reported.
In a letter to the Organization of American States (OAS), Mexico stated that Bolivians were intimidating diplomatic personnel and trying to detain and inspect the ambassador’s car.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bolivia said it was considering withdrawing from the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) because Mexico would become president of the organization in 2020. Bolivia also accused Mexico of unfriendly behavior, saying it was reluctant to recognize Anez' presidency.
