Prime Minister of Montenegro Dushko Markovic has prohibited the police from applying force against the participants of a protest against the law on religious freedom, reports TASS.

“Don’t dare to apply force against neither the people nor priests. Today you have to set an example of tolerance,” he declared.

The Prime Minister also addressed the clergy and promised that the potential adoption of the law would in no way have an impact on the position of religious communities.

Currently, the deputy of the Skupshchina (Parliament) of Montenegro is considering the bill, and a simple majority is required for its approval.
